Stag Party Activity Weekends

Okay it is April now, and around 300000 couples will get married this year so it is the month that many are thinking ahead to their stag party. Now stag parties take many shapes and sizes and we can all think of the more traditional activities shall we say that often go on during a stag party weekend! Well more and more stag groups are thinking about doing alternative stag weekends as many have been on several events before and have done the heavy drinking and stripper thing.

Scotland is a favourite destination of stag groups who prefer a weekend of adventure and adrenaline rather than just a booze fuelled rampage through some unfortunate city. The groups that tend to come to Scotland are often a little bit older and have been on stag weekends before. They are looking for something different and Scotland is the place to provide something different that is for sure.

Last year our most in demand Stag Weekend was a Splash Weekend of a couple of nights in a stunning self catering lodge on the side of a mountain and a Splash day of white water rafting and canyoning. Some groups could not get enough and did two full days of rafting , canyoning , river bugs and mountain biking.

You combine this with a few beers in the evening and a roast pig on the spit and you have a weekend that no one in the stag party group will ever forget. Stag Party Activity weekends are the stag event of today.

We asked some of our stags last weekend if they thought we could have done anything better…………

“Nothing!. The Instruction was great. The Guides instruction, sense of fun and local advice were all well done.”

“A great experience. Well worthwhile and a good way to clear the head!”

Grand Canyon White Water Rafting Trips Technorati Profile

Whether you are looking for a smooth rafting trip with your family and loved ones or, are looking forward to a more adventurous whitewater rafting experience, the Grand Canyon in Colorado River can offer you some of the best rafting experiences of your life. Just as John W. Powell enjoyed exploring the river back in 1869, similarly, today also, a large population of tourists and rafting lovers enjoy exploring the 277 mile trip down the Colorado River. Traveling by rubber rafts, viewing the scenic beauties of unseen waterfalls, white water rafting in the Grand canyon can prove to be the experience of a lifetime. Attracting thousands of tourists from all over the world, the Grand Canyon offers a variety of rafting options to rafters having different preferences. Those traveling with families and young children can opt for the smooth rafting trips that will enable them to enjoy the scenic view all around without having to travel through any rapids. On the other hand, for the more adventurous, the numerous Class IV and V rapids of the Grand Canyon can provide the thrill and excitement the rafters are looking for.

Most whitewater rafting trips along the Grand Canyon are scheduled during the months of April to November and range from a few days to 18 days depending on the amount of time rafters have on hand and the places they want to visit. Many rafters prefer to combine hiking with rafting while exploring the Grand Canyon. For those on shorter trips and looking for more compact rafting experiences, there is also the option of rafting just the upper or lower half of the Grand Canyon

The longest river

The article below is about an epic river journey on the River Nile. Pete Meredith was the expedition co-leader. Pete spent 2006 working for Splash and is currently in South Africa planning his next epic.

History

On May 21st 2004 an international team reached the Mediterranean Sea after spending the previous four and a half months travelling the length of the Nile River. The team made a documentary ‘The Longest River’ about this historic journey, revealing the people along its banks, the different issues that face these people, and how their lives are affected by the Nile. The film has been shown in 152 countries on National Geographic Channel. The expedition receives considerable international exposure from the media.

We continue to build on this success, by exploring all the major rivers and their basins, in order to expose the impact of human activity and explore the lives and challenges of the millions of people whose daily existence depends on them. (more…)

Summer rafting 2007

Summer 2007 is fast approaching and the ever popular River Tummel season starts on Saturday 2nd June. This year Splash are going to have season like no other on the River Tummel because the nice people at Scottish Hydro Electric are having to replace the turbines in the Cluine Dam and so they have to release all the water!

Starting on Friday 22 June the river level is going too increase to 3 times its normal release level and then if we get some rain it is going to go larger! The news gets even better as unlike normal summer rafting seasons when we only get water on this year we are getting water all week.

So if you have never rafted the River Tummel 2007 is the year to do it. If you have rafted it before come back and experience it in true big water conditions.
