Ocoee River Rafting
Located an hours drive away from Atlanta, the Ocoee River of Tennessee was voted among the top-ten whitewater rivers in US by the Canoe Magazine. The Upper and Middle sections of the river, with a huge contingent of Class III-IV rapids, provide an exhilarating challenge to rafters of all ages.
The Upper Ocoee begins with a mellow 1 mile trip through magnificent isolated landscapes. The Ocoee Olympic Course awaits enthusiasts with its gigantic Class IV rapids, strewn around vertical chutes and enormous waves. This section played host to the 1996 Olympic Whitewater competitions, so it is quite obvious that rafters need excellent navigating skills to manipulate through this awesome rafting trail. Rapids like Humongous, Let’s Make a Deal and Slam Dunk tantalize the senses of even veteran rafters. Scheduled weekends from June to August are the best time to raft in the Upper Ocoee as the Tennessee Valley Authority releases water during this period.
The Middle Ocoee flows through a cavernous chasm in the Cherokee National Forest. It offers more than twenty Class III-IV rapids amidst spectacular scenery. Five miles of the river, with bumping 57 feet per mile sprawled with deadly rapids like Grumpy, Broken Nose, Double Suck, Tablesaw, Vegematic, Hell Hole and Powerhouse, thrill rafters in an adrenaline pumping excursion.
