Kupa River, Croatia
The mesmerizing Kupa River shares its border with southeast Slovenia and north-west Croatia. The river has its source in the mountainous sections of Gorski kotar of Croatia, which again is located in the northeast of Rijeka. Traveling a few kilometers towards the east, the waterway is joined by another small river Cabranka, uniting from the right hand side. River Kupa then moves off towards the Slovenian border.
Further in its course, the river Kupa travels eastwards and connects with river Lahinja coming from the left and gets past through Vrbovsko. The water body then moves away from the Slovenian border and arrives at the city of Karlovac, where it is joined by two more popular rivers from the right side, River Dobra and River Korana.
As the Kupa river runs along the valleys and forested slopes of Risnjak National Park, the water body gains huge volume of water, especially during the spring time and just after the rainy season. Rafting through the river is pretty safe and the rapid streams offer you maximum pleasure all the way. Furthermore, the crystal waters and the lovely natural surroundings are there to take your breath away.
For experienced rafters and lovers of high rising waves, the best time would be the spring season as the Kupa river sports huge foaming waves at this time of the year, thanks to its increased volume. However, during the summers, as the water level goes down, the river brings in the ideal conditions for the beginners to raft on. Again, besides rafting on the river, you can enjoy diving and indulge into water jumps and swimming in the compelling torrents during the summer season.
